Watchung Conference, Trevon Lewis crossing 1,000 points and an Instant Classic. Perfect Together.

For the first 10 minutes of tonight's highly anticipated showdown between #4 Roselle Catholic and #17 Union Catholic, it looked like only one team remembered they had a game this evening. Roselle Catholic came out flat and Union Catholic hit them with a sledgehammer, the kitchen sink and also added a Mack truck in for good measure on their way to a nearly 20 point lead early in the second quarter, powered behind an of-another-universe opening quarter from senior guards AJ Altobelli and Luke Schorr.
Schorr hit the above triple to put UC up 27-8 early in the second and it looked like one or two more buckets would send RC packing for pastries and coffee across the street at Pinho's by halftime.
Then the Hoover Dam gave way.
Powered by D1 prospects Jalen Grant and Trevon Lewis, RC exploded on a game-altering run, ending the half on a 22-2 tear and marching into the locker room with a 30-29 lead.
The teams traded baskets throughout a hotly contested third quarter, with RC taking a 44-39 lead after a Grant triple. UC pulled itself off the canvas and went on a 6-0 run to end the third, leading 45-44 going to the fourth.
As the fourth made its turn, UC was still holding on to the slimmest of leads at 50-49 after a Tyrease Hunter three. Hunter hit another triple as time was ticking away, giving RC a 55-52 lead--One they would hold on to the finish line with.
It wasn't all sunshine and roses to the final buzzer, however, as Lewis missed two free throws, giving AJ Altobelli the final heave, which came up just short...Allowing RC to hold on for a 63-61 win after staging one of the best comebacks this author has ever seen.
