Thursday evening's Top 25 showdown between #11 Elizabeth and #25 Atlantic City had quite a bit of substance to it on paper...But games are not played on paper.

Elizabeth and AC spent the first few mintues of the first quarter playing cat-and-mouse before Elizabeth broke the ice on a layup from 6'4" senior forward Luis Cuero. After Elizabeth jumped out to a 7-0 lead, the teams traded buckets in a hotly contested first quarter, but powered by 6'5" senior Jordan Torres, it was the Minutemen who held a 15-10 lead after one.
In the second quarter, Atlantic City got within two points before Elizabeth went on a run to give themselves a 29-21 lead midway through the quarter. Elizabeth gave themselves breathing room going into the locker room as Cam McRae hit a triple to give them a 34-25 lead at the break. The senior guard led Elizabeth with 11 in the first half, while Cuero tossed in 10.
In the second half, JoJo Torres took over. He opened the half with a putback, followed with a three pointer and after a Jayden Johnson triple, EHS led 43-31, bringing a timeout from AC. They'd get as close as five before Elizabeth put their foot to the gas and finished the game strong, with Torres pouring in buckets in the post on his way to a game high 26 points in a dominant 76-58 win for the Minutemen.
