The CVC was a conference in flux this season as traditional power Trenton saw a dip and parity ruled the day.

Season Recap

In spite of finishing 21-7, coach Chris Raba and Nottingham will likely look back on this season and think "there could have been more to this." Close losses in both the Mercer County(Pennington) and State Tournaments(Freehold Boro) but a damper on a banner year. They did win the CVC Valley and add a trophy to the case and have three locks for our CVC all star teams in Dom Raymond, Jordan Raba and Jahmere Miller. With a massive crop of seniors who contributed, there could be a rebuild next year.

Hopewell Valley went from 12-14 last winter to an impressive 21-6 this year. They marched all the way to the Mercer County final, losing to Pennington, as well as the Central Jersey Group III Semifinal, losing to Red Bank Regional. Senior John Michael Vlasac did the heavy lifting for the team at both ends of the floor but talent returns for them to stay strong next year.

Just one season after finishing 29-2, Trenton High saw the program take a dip this winter. They graduated a host of seniors and lost their lone returnee, Kabe Goss, to Roman Catholic in Philly...While Goss gained national attention for hitting a shot to win the Philadelphia Catholic League, Trenton learned on the job with a very inexperienced team. That said, with a year of competing, this young team should be back to the standard next winter.

Player Of The Year

John Michael Vlasac, Hopewell Valley AND Dom Raymond, Nottingham

Both players were strong scorers and rebounders. At the end of the day, you could pick either. We tried to look at stat lines vs Pennington. Didn't separate them. We looked at states. Didn't separate them. Raymond had more points. Vlasac had more assists. Rather than flip a coin, they are Co-Players Of The Year.

Easy way out for us? Probably. That said, fair to recognize the top two in the CVC for being a cut above.
