JD Core Training North Jersey Game Of The Day

Madison(6-2) vs Summit(6-2), 4PM

The Dodgers are off to a solid start this season and their only losses are to a ReportIt Top 25 team in Morris Catholic. Talented junior Evan Colao is the leader and he gets support from senior guard Jackson Maloney, as well as sophomore Gavin Randall.

Summit has several nice wins and enters without a bad loss--Oratory and Millburn are the two teams to top them and both are talented teams. They hopped into the Buc Tournament consolations at RBR to pick up an extra game because that tournament only had 7 teams and defeated Notre Dame to end the year. Junior David Fix is shouldering the offensive load for the Hilltoppers this season and sophomore Matt Caplan is also developing into a talent.

#2 Hudson Catholic(4-4) vs Bayonne(5-1), 6PM

After taking on a brutal non-divisional slate to start the year, the Hawks make their 2024 Hudson County debut against Ben Gamble's ever tough Bees. Can Bayonne shake off the loss to Charlestown(MA) in their Christmas Tournament to stay with the supremely talented backcourt of Hudson Catholic? We'll find out this evening. Freshman Jaylen Sims has started nicely for Bayonne thusfar. Hudson counters with a plethora of scholarship level players, including Alex Massung(Penn) and Tahaad Pettiford(Auburn) in the backcourt.

Phillipsburg(5-1) vs Plainfield(4-4), 7:30 PM

The Stateliners dropped their opener at Watchung Hills and have won five in a row, including winning the Easton Rotary Christmas Tournament, defeating Easton, their archnemesis across the Delaware in the final. Senior forward Andrew Martin and junior guard Matt Scerbo Jr are the Stateliners leaders.

Plainfield has a deceptive 4-4 record--They've got losses to St. Benedict's, Union Catholic and Elizabeth on there. They won the Joe Silver Holiday Tournament, including a win over #25 Saint Augustine in the semifinal. They're led by freshman prospect Micah Gordon, who has been very impressive with his skill and leadership for a young player.
